Bio

Having grown up in Latin America, studied in China, and worked in India, Andrew Mahlstedt has been traveling for most of his life, and photography has been his primary medium of artistic exploration of that world for most of his adult life. As an English teacher, he thinks about the formal qualities of representation; as a sometime mountaineer, he thinks about the landscapes of the Nepal shoot; as a Global Lives board member, he thinks about Global Lives as a whole. The Global Lives Nepal shoot thus offered him a rare opportunity to draw together these diverse interests into photographic compositions he hopes will do justice to Mingmar's epic life.
