One Beat Live Video/Music Performance, 2014

Sponsors: Found Sound Nation and US Department of State

One Beat is a program that provides early-career musicians a chance to collaboratively write, produce, and perform original music while also developing strategies for arts-based social and civic engagement. On October 15,  2014, Global Lives Project collaborated with OneBeat to host a music-media event featuring over 20 musicians mixing beats and vocals against the backdrop of the Lives In Transit video installations on the perpetual motion of our world— from Malawi, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and more. Performances featured musicians from around the globe, including Colombian percussion, Arabic classical vocals, Ukrainian indie rock, and Kyrgyz folk tunes, juxtaposed against screenings of daily life produced by the Global Lives Collective. The event was free for all visitors, with the exception of a cash bar.
