Development Director Internship
GLP's primary sources of income to date have been individual donors (more than 100 individuals) and a small grant from the Black Rock Arts Foundation. During our start-up phase, grants and donations will continue to be essential to the project's success. As the project grows, our goal is to develop a balance of earned revenue with grant and individual donor funding.
The Development Director Internship will consist of six core tasks:
- Analyze GLP expenditures to date and planned production and exhibition expenditures to create a series of budget scenarios for 2008-2009.
- Conduct research at the Foundation Center (San Francisco) on potential sources of grant funding, with focus on education, arts, and new media/technology funders.
- Create application timeline and prioritize grants.
- Prepare letters of inquiry (LOI) and grant applications based on previously submitted applications.
- Present draft applications to ED and board members and incorporate revisions.
- Submit completed LOIs and applications to funders.
Work Arrangements:
- All projects are suitable for teams of 2-3 or more interns if preferred.
- GLP is open to receiving full-time and/or part-time students.
- Participants need to supply their own computers.
- Regular written reports will be expected from interns documenting progress.
- Weekly meetings with interns will take place in Berkeley or SF, with exception of video/teleconference meetings due to intermittent travel
